TallPines Forest Products was originally founded in January of 1997, and was headquartered in Columbia, MD. Since 1997 the company has continued to grow, making a new home in Abingdon, VA from 2011-2015. In 2015, we continued adding products and staff members and are now currently headquartered in Martinsburg, WV.

Our Story
Our story began with an immigrant family, horse-drawn carriages, and sawdust. It doesn’t get any more glamorous than that does it?
Four generations ago (think early 1900’s) a young man was riding on a horse-drawn carriage with his father taking care of the daily business. Every day was the same. They went to the local sawmill first, collected sawdust into burlap sacks, and then loaded them onto the carriage for delivery. After a full morning’s work at the mill, they then spent the rest of the day stopping at butcher shops and farms selling a bag of sawdust for just 5 cents.
Yes, just one shiny nickel!
Tragically, during one of these daily runs, that young man witnessed his father die instantly while delivering product to his customers. His father had a heart attack and died on the spot. He was just 13 years of age.
That young man was our founder’s father. At the tender age of 13, he went on to provide for his mother and 8 other children by working the family business just like his father did before him.
He worked hard, choosing to stick to the magical formula that his father had taught him along the way; do what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it. He eventually grew into a mature young man, married, and had 4 children of his own.
TallPines Forest Products has now grown into the 4th generation of wood and shavings specialists. We have grown our business by using the same formula as that 13 year old young man did. We simply do what we say we are going to do when we say we are going to do it. It has worked for four generations and counting…
